William Reece

William R. Reece (Billy), age 88, passed away suddenly on June 7th at his home in Edmonton. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rufus Reece and Bettie Strange Reece, and brothers Leon, Russell, Robert, Ralph, J.W., Tommy and his sister, Marguerite Sullivan. Billy graduated from Edmonton High School, where he played basketball and baseball. He was awarded a basketball scholarship to Campbellsville College (a two-year school at the time), and finished his education at Lenore Rhine College in Hickory, North Carolina, winning many basketball honors and awards. After college, he played in a summer baseball league.

Billy served in the Army. Upon discharge, he taught physical education and was a basketball coach at Ft. Walton High School in Ft Walton, KY, and Austin Tracy High School in Barren County. He also retired from the Toll Plaza in Edmonton.

Billy is survived by his sister, Martha Mitchell, of Louisville, and ten nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held for Billy on June11th at Memorial Gardens, with Butler Funeral Home handling arrangements. A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be Saturday, June 14th, at 2 PM in Edmonton's Bowling Park.
