Stanley Medford Syra

Mr. Stanley Medford Syra, age 96, of Edmonton, Kentucky passed away on Monday, January 08, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his family. Mr. Syra was born on Friday, January 06, 1928, the son of Lewis Henry and Montie Zoie (Young) Syra. He attended Cedar Flat Church, and was an area farmer, farming most all his life.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Lourene (Garrett) Syra, whom he wed on Sunday, August 25, 1946, having some 70+ years together before her death on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, son-in-law, Wendell Shaw, sisters, Lovie (& Cecil) Judd, Louise (Rufus) Garmon, Mable Ruth (& Norvin) Hurt, Yocca Syra, Etherage Syra, Frances Josephine Syra, brother-in-law, Leslie Humes, great-grandchild, Dustin.

Mr. Syra is survived by his daughters, Barbara Shaw, Judith (& Jimmy) Reece, grandchildren, Julie (& Marty) Harper, Amy (& Mike) Irwin, Jared (& Hannah) Shaw, Andy (& Heather) Shaw, James (& Lori) Reece, Stanton (& Cindy) Reece, Stephen (& Tonya) Reece, 21 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, nieces, Margaret Williams, Jean Coomer, Penny Young, nephews, Gail Hurt, Johnny Humes, along with many other family members and friends.

The funeral service for Mr. Stanley Syra will be conducted on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Butler Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Metcalfe Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 12, 2024, after 4:00 p.m. and again on Saturday after 8:00 a.m. until time for the service at the funeral home. Butler Funeral Home is both honored and privileged to be entrusted to the care of Mr. Syra.
