Lanny D. Parnell

Lanny David Parnell, 69 of Edmonton passed away Saturday, January 27, 2024.    Lanny was born February 3, 1954, to Willard and the late Norma Harper Parnell. He was also preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Barbara Wisdom.  Lanny was the husband of Carolyn Wisdom Parnell whom he wed May 25, 1984.  They would have been married 40 years in May.

Lanny was employed at Sumitomo in Edmonton for 35 years.   He loved his work there and considered his co-workers his family also.    His work nickname was "Sumitomo".  Lanny was a member of the Casey Fork Church of Christ.  His greatest passion in life was his family, hunting, fishing and his workplace.

Besides his wife and father Lanny is survived by two children.    Tiffany and husband David Matthews of Summer Shade.    James David and wife Brittany of Edmonton.  Lanny was known as "D" and grand-daddy to his three grandchildren.    Kennon and Landree Matthews of Summer Shade.   Harper Parnell of Edmonton.    A brother, Steve and wife Cathy Parnell of North Carolina.  A sister, Cindy and husband Sam Reeves of Lexington.    His father-in-law, James Wisdom of Edmonton.   Sister-in-law, Debbie and husband Donnie Glass, brother-in-law, Tim and wife Leslie Wisdom of Edmonton.   His nieces and nephews.  Samuel Reeves (Rachel Knauff), Tai Ann (Ben) Webster, Brandi Glass (Jack Jenkins), Riley (Emily) Wisdom, Brandon Glass, Ramsey Wisdom (Miranda Dubree), Rudy Wisdom (Lexi Bowles), and Riann Wisdom.   Several great nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Lanny Parnell will be held 1:00 PM, Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with interment in the Moore Springs Cemetery.   Visitation will from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday and after 8:00 AM Wednesday at the funeral home.
