Listen to Obituary

Justin Porter Hamlett, 38 of Edmonton, KY passed away Thursday, August 6, 2026, at UK Chandler Hospital in Lexington. He was born February 6, 1988, in Glasgow to the late Richard Hamlett and Cynthia Lynn Goodman. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his grandparents Rev. William and Armedia Hamlett, and Eugene Lynn and Elosie Lynn Vance, cousin Whitney Barcel Emberton and his stepfather Gary Goodman.

Justin was truly one of a kind and could easily be described as the life of the party. He never missed an opportunity to crack a joke, make someone laugh, or give his friends a hard time. If Justin was around, chances were there was going to be plenty of laughter, and probably a little bit of trouble mixed in. More than anything, Justin loved his children. They held a special place in his heart and were a source of great pride and happiness in his life. Justin had a love for anything with wheels and a motor. Whether he was pimping out one of his rides, riding ATVs and dirt bikes, or simply enjoying loud music (usually loud enough for everyone around him to enjoy it too), he liked doing things his own way. His tattoos and piercings were part of who he was, and you could rarely catch him without a pair of his favorite Oakley sunglasses and one of the many hats from his collection. He enjoyed hanging out with his friends, cutting up, telling jokes, and simply having a good time.

Justin didn’t need anything fancy to enjoy life; good friends, loud music, a nice ride, and plenty of laughs were usually enough. Justin also had a softer side, especially when it came to his beloved bearded dragon, Nugget, who was more than just a pet and held a very special place in his heart. Justin lived life with a big personality and a sense of humor that was completely his own. Those who knew him will remember the jokes, the laughter, the loud music, the Oakley's and hats, and most of all, the unforgettable personality that made Justin simply Justin.

He is survived by his children Aiden Hamlett, Millie Deville Hamlett and Jessalyn Hamlett, fiancé Cheyenne Phelps, brother Kyle Hamlett Decker (Stephanie), uncle Randall Hamlett (Becky), aunts Lecia Pruitt and Angie Branham (Richard), stepmother Teresa Hamlett, stepsister Morgan Deweese (Alan), stepbrothers Jeremy Goodman and Shawn Goodman. Justin is also survived by a host of dear cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
