Burnell Thompson

James Burnell Thompson, 89 of Edmonton, KY passed away Monday, April 14, 2025, at Metcalfe County Healthcare. Burnell was born October 12,1935, to the late Frank and Lizzie Poynter Thompson. He was also preceded in death by his sisters Frances Kirgan and Shelby Jean Thompson. 

Burnell worked as a sales manager at Metcalfe Motors for over 30 years before owning and operating Edmonton Auto Sales and Edmonton Stove Shop before retiring. He was an avid UK fan. Burnell also enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors. 

He is survived by his wife of 67 years Alice Cassady Thompson of Edmonton, one son Steve (Rhonda) Thompson, grandchildren Tara (Travis) Wright and Kayla (Joseph) Eaton, and five great grandchildren Bryson, Saylor, Levi, Allie Jo and Wade. 

Funeral services for Burnell Thompson will be held 1:00 PM Saturday April 19, 2025, at Butler Funeral Home with burial in Pink Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00PM until 8:00PM Friday and after 8:00AM Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Antioch Baptist Church or Pink Ridge Cemetery.
