James Ray Rock, 86 of Shady Grove, KY passed away Sunday, May 18,2025, at NHC Healthcare. He was born June 12, 1938, to the late Rev. Lemmond and Lois Rock.
He was saved at the age of 12 and became and a lifelong member of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church. James was a faithful member where he served in various roles: Sunday School Superintendent, Treasurer, and Sunday School Teacher. As a demonstration of his faith, kind spirit and caring heart he proudly served as a deacon for 34 years.
James was a retired mechanic from Louisville Gas and Eletric with 24 years of service. His dedication and work ethic were noticed by his peers, as quoted at his retirement, " we are better because you were with us". After retirement, he enjoyed farming and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years Rosella Lile Rock, daughter Rhonda (Michael) Glass, son Mark (Bonnie) Rock, three grandchildren Aaron (Heather) Glass, Rachel (Codi) Wilson, Leah (Ethan) Dile, five great grandchildren Ella Glass, Noah Glass, Gracelyn Wilson, Cora Wilson, Arlie Dile and looked forwarding to welcoming the sixth grandchild Atley Dile, nieces and nephews, Ginger (Frankie) Froggett, Chesney (Todd) Caswell, Nate (Rebecca) Froggett and Daniel Froggett. Also, the staff at NHC, who provided "Papa" with loving care the past few years.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church with burial in the Houk Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM here at the funeral home and after 10:00 AM until time of the service at the church.
