James "Jim" Orlan Dunbar, 80 of Edmonton, KY passed away Saturday, August 9, 2025, at the Bowling Green Medical Center. He was born in Dawson Springs, KY to the late Garland and Elizabeth Webb Dunbar. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law Adline Dunbar and brother-in-law Keith Riley.
James leaves behind a legacy as a dedicated pipeline construction worker who devoted an admirable 43 years to his craft, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues. Known for his integrity and kindness, he was very well thought of by those who had the pleasure of knowing him. His contributions extended beyond the workforce as he actively participated in the Edmonton Baptist Church and found camaraderie in the Masonic Lodge #931, where he fostered bonds that enriched his life and the lives of those around him.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years Helen Dunbar of Edmonton, three children Larry (Karen) Harbison, Freddy (Dawn) Harbison and Janie (Joe) Gerughty, six grandchildren Kara Brooke (Brandon) Smith, LJ (Jessica) Harbison, Winston Harbison, Kennedy (Austin) Pennington, Kaylee Harbison and Ashley (Brandon) Groce, eight great grandchildren Cole Smith, Kamdyn Smith, Ellington Harbison, Rawlings Harbison, Levvie Harbison, James Pennington, Emma Groce and Paisley Groce, one brother Harold Ray Dunbar and sister Sue Riley. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for James Dunbar will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, August 12,2025, at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in the Edmonton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday and after 8:00 AM Tuesday at the funeral home. Masonic service will be held Monday evening at 7:00PM.
