Mr. Robert Thurman "HammerHead" Coates, age 76, of the Hardyville Community of Hart County passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at his residence. Mr. Coates was born on Friday, August 01, 1947, the son of James Thurman and Dixie Ann (Robertson) Coates. Mr. Coates was a Logger, Tobacco Farmer, and cut wood for many years for people around this area.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sara Coates, siblings, Patsy Basil, James Brown, Jerry Brown.

Mr. Coates is survived by his wife, Martha (Poynter) Coates, siblings, Lillie Wright, Ronnie (& Deborah) Coates, Ronnie Brown, Carolyn Brown, Tammy Brown, Jeffery (& Michelle) Brown, grandchildren, J.R. Basil, Javen Basil, along with many, many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and numerous friends.

The funeral service for Mr. Robert Thurman Coates will be conducted on Monday, January 22, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton, Kentucky, with Bro. Donnie Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Wickerville Cemetery in Hart County, Kentucky. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 21, 2024, after 3:00 p.m. at Butler Funeral Home, and again on Monday, January 22, 2024, after 8:00 a.m. until time for the service. Butler Funeral Home is both honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Mr. Coates.
