Dessie Judd Bragg

Dessie Judd Bragg, 99, of Edmonton, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at Metcalfe Nursing and Rehab in Edmonton, surrounded by family. She was born on April 7, 1927, in Metcalfe County, Kentucky, to the late William Nathaniel Judd and the late Molly Ray (Roach) Judd. She was a charter member of Penick’s Chapel United Baptist Church.

Mrs. Bragg professed her faith at a young age at East Fork Baptist Church, a commitment that remained an important part of her life. She was well known in the community and was cherished for the steady, familiar presence she brought to those around her. A homemaker, she also worked for 25 years at Dollar General in Edmonton until her retirement, a role through which she became a familiar and appreciated part of daily life for many in the area.

She found joy in the simple and meaningful things of life. In her spare time, she loved canning, quilting, gardening, and above all, spending time with her family. These interests reflected her hardworking spirit, her care for others, and the warmth she shared so freely with those she loved.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Ervin (Michael) of Edmonton; grandchildren, Rita K. Shaw of Knob Lick, Alisha Rowe (Dennis) of Edmonton, and Greg Ervin (Tammy) of Edmonton; Ten great-grandchildren; Brayden Houchens, Sarah Poynter, Kaitlynn Rowe, Travis Rowe, Amber Rowe, Jordan Rowe, Holly Bragg, Heather Myers, Rachel Shirley, and Jake Ervin. Six great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Jasper Bragg; two children, James Preston Bragg and Shirlene Bragg Shaw; son in law, Ernest Shaw; nine brothers and sisters and one great grandchild.

Funeral Service for Dessie will be held 12:00PM, Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Penick's Chapel United Baptist Church with burial in the Bragg and Mosby Cemetery. Visitation will begin Friday at 4:00PM until 8:00PM at Butler Funeral Home and then Saturday at 8:00AM at the funeral home until time for the service at the church.
