Mr. Charles Kelly Cooper Sr. 89 of Glasgow, Kentucky passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at his residence. Mr. Cooper was born on Wednesday, October31, 1934, the son of Miles and Agnes (Carmen) Cooper. Mr. cooper attended the Nazarene Church of Glasgow, was a Korean War Veteran receiving the Purple Heart for wounds he sustained in the war, was also awarded the Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, Combat Inf. Badge Par 2 SO# 178 HQ 31st Inf. Regt., United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and was retired from the Civil Service.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his son, Daniel Cooper, and all of his siblings.
Mr. Cooper is survived by his wife, Joy Elaine (Creswell) Cooper whom he wed on Saturday, March 05, 1955, spending some 68 years together, sons, Charles Cooper Jr., Donald Cooper, Larry (& Cathy) Cooper, daughters, Melody Reed, Judy Jones, grandchildren, Sabrina (& Randy) Watson, Jeremie (& Amy) Cooper, Bill Cooper, Patti Cooper, Christy (& Eric) Kelley, Jennifer (& Jason) Clark, Mark Allen Reed Jr., Aubree Reed, Tristan Reed, Eddie Cooper, Steven Cooper, Rebecca Cooper, Teresa Cooper, along with several great-grandchildren, other family members, and many friends.
The funeral service for Mr. Charles Kelly Cooper Sr. will be conducted on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Butler Funeral Home. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Sulphur Springs Cemetery in Metcalfe County, Kentucky. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 30, 2023, after 10:00 a.m. until time for the service at the funeral home. Butler Funeral Home is both honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Mr. Cooper.
