Albert Parnell Jr., 90 of Greensburg, KY passed away Saturday, November 22, 2025. He was born June 13,1935, in Metcalfe County to the late Albert and Lora Strader Parnell. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his two sons Charles and Edward Parnell, his siblings Leamen Parnell, J.T. Parnell, Audrey Parnell Blaydes, Dorothy Parnell Hall, Alma Parnell Lacrosse, Marie Parnell Pierce and Kenneth Parnell.

Albert left Kentucky in 1954 and hitchhiked to Louisville, KY where he got his first job pumping gas for 95 cents an hour. He then began a career at LGE in Louisville, Kentucky, before transitioning to Southern Star Meat Packing. His journey took him to Arkansas, where he worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, ultimately achieving the position of foreman. During this time, he had the opportunity to work alongside notable figures, including the famous country music singer, Willie Nelson. Albert lived in Arkansas from 1962 to 1968, enriching his life experiences in the vibrant atmosphere of the region.

He returned to Columbus, Indiana, where he joined the Cummins Engine Company, applying his skills and dedication to help the company flourish. Alongside his work at Cummins, he operated his own business, Parnell Tree Service. In addition to these roles, Albert dedicated ten years to serving as a part-time police officer in Hartsville, Indiana, exemplifying his commitment to his community. Albert also worked as a subcontractor, the affiliates of NBC television subsidiary in Columbus, IN contracted him to stretch cable for the first television service in the area. He was given 2 years to complete the project and with the help of his crew they completed the job in a year and a half. As a bonus for finishing the job early Albert received a banjo. Music played a significant role in Albert's life, as he was a member of the band Ruby and the Nashville Sound. This chapter of his life allowed him to express his creativity and share joy through music with others.

Albert alongside his wife Patricia they operated four businesses, Parnell Tree Service, SAPS Contractors, Natures Image and Cedar Springs lawn care. They also operated a dairy farm of almost 200 acres and had almost 100 cattle they tended to. Their highest milk line period was 46 head and producing over 9000 pounds of milk per month. Throughout the winters they stayed busy moving snow from factory parking lots, keeping sidewalks clear and putting down salt. After retirement in 2000, Albert was passionate about a variety of hobbies, including woodworking, gardening, and fishing. He cherished the moments spent outdoors. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family, whom he held dear to his heart.

He is survived by his wife of 40years Patricia Grissom Parnell of Greensburg, two children Daniel Knoy (Beth) of Greensburg and Trena Parnell of Shelbyville, IN., five grandchildren Abigail Knoy, Hayden Knoy, Kathleen Parnell, Steven Parnell and Matthew Parnell, eleven great grandchildren, and two sisters-in-law Bertha Ketchum and Christy Grissom. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services for Albert Parnell will be held 1:00PM Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in the Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM Saturday until time of the service here at the funeral home.
